Too much excitement...

As many of you know, we've had a few scary weeks in Northeast Ohio. Whitney has been in and out of the hospital for two and a half weeks now and we're still trying to get everything figured out.

Here is what has happened so far: First, right after we got back from a great trip to Florida, Whitney thought she'd caught a stomach bug. After a couple of days of severe stomach cramping, she went to the ER and had her appendix out the same night. It did burst, and was so infected that they had to do the surgery the old-fashioned way, which means longer recovery and a much bigger scar. She stayed in the hospital for four nights and came home to recover. Within two days she started having terrible pains in her side and went back to the ER. The doctors said that her abdomen was re-infected, and that she now had fluid in and around her lungs. We thought it was something small, but they eventually told us that she had pneumonia. They loaded her up with antibiotics and took some fluid out of her lung, but sent her home after another four night stay. She was home for five days, and the pain that returned was so bad that she went back to the ER yesterday, and of course, is re-admitted. She stayed last night and will at least stay tonight. Today they drained her right lung (gross, I know, but we're so glad they did) and said it wasn't infected like it was last week. They're going to do some more scans tomorrow to check on the fluid in her lungs and on the abdominal infections.

I miss my Whitty :( Needless to say, it's been tough having her feeling so sick, but we've been incredibly lucky to have the love and support of our family and friends. My parents, Whitney's mother, and my sister have all come into town to help with Will at one point or another, and so many others have given their support and encouragement with notes and phone calls. We already knew how lucky we were, but it's been touching and it means an awful lot to us.

Will has been having a blast with Grandmommy, Grammie, Grandpa, Aunt Christy and his cousin and great buddy Jonny. We have a lot of great new stories and pictures from Florida and beyond, but those will have to wait until things settle down for us. A couple quick notable things though...Will is crawling (started on May 1st and gets better every day), pulling himself up to his feet in his crib and a few other places, and is really starting to say a lot. They're not words, but it's great to listen to. Dadadadada is the most common lately, so maybe I'll win the Mama vs. Dada race after all. Either way, he still gives Whitney the biggest and wettest kisses, so I bow to her greatness no matter what.

Wow...So sorry to hear about Whitney. I hope everything gets cleared up and she feels better soon.
