For years uncounted you wove your mesh,
In the cold and darkness of my tummy's flesh.
Taking not a day off, not a singular vacation,
Always matching my vest or my sweater's coloration.
Breathless to show me the life you hoped for,
You were heartlessly tossed in the drain, on the floor,
And parting our ways you would yearn for rebirth
As you Swiffered away to the ends of the earth.
But for each battle lost, a battle is won,
And under my tees a new life's begun.
Fear not, my dear friends, for in truth I tell you,
My bellybutton lint has started anew.

Nice poem bro, funny yet not too gross. I'm thinking you should turn it into a song?!?
I truly feel the weight of loss and the hope of new life -- your wordsmithery astounds! It reminds me of Homer's The Laundromatte, in which he refers to Helen of Troy's midriff as "the navel that launched a thousand ships."
Also, here's a song about Elephants:

Beautiful. Just beautiful. Deeply moving yet profound.
