Round one results

Well well well...I just lost my first game to a ten year old boy (who was forced to play with the adults because of his 1596 rating). I was outclassed from the beginning, but made some decent recoveries that gave me some counterplay. He was up a pawn after about 12 moves, which I never recovered, but I was able to trade queens and activate my pieces (a very purposeful decision on my part) to balance things out. In the end I had a strong threat, but he was able to answer it well and maintain his own attack. He had me in a forced mate and I resigned after about 70 minutes of play (each side has 60 minutes, not 30 like I thought).

Many funny things happend during the game. I forgot to hit my clock twice (losing me about three VERY precious minutes), and twice I accidentally knocked my king over (the gesture of resignation). The kid was a great sport and very understanding. After the game he said, "you played well." I don't know if it was honesty or simply good sportsmanship, but it made me feel good.

For next game, I need to move faster. And I really have to pee. No more water-chugging before and during games!
